Who finally scored some rohrspatz and wollmeise? I did. I have about 5 colors headed my way! I am so excited.

What I am not excited about is the lack of knitting I have done lately! I expected to be much farther on my shirt; but nearing finishing that back will just have to do for now.

Next week, my knitting time will be devoted to teacher some new knitters the ropes.

I also hope to try out a spinning wheel or two during my normal SNB group night!

The following week is another cycling trip so if the past repeats I will get zero done!

Not enough time.

All I have been catching up on this weekend is sleep. I can't get enough! What is going on

I AM BACK! Trying to get caught up with HSKS. So far, lots of reading to do.

Dueling Club: I am officially dead-I didn't have time to do much this round. I was on vacation and could not see skipping some of the fun events so that I could win this one. I gave it my best effort on the drive but put it down. I love the socks I received and can't wait to wear them!

Waiting for me on my doorstep when I came home was an owl. I have my sock kit and I LOVE EVERYTHING IN IT! Pictures will be coming soon! I am using my stitch markers already! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Package number two for my girl is almost done.....just gotta put one more coat on and then it will be off with my owl! Maybe this friday!

Vacation

Ahh....off on vacation.

Round two of dueling club started just in time for me to print the directions last night and pack them. I am not sure if I am going to stay living this round. Due to the vacation plans. I am going to attempt to knit in the car (car sickness!!!).

I hear I will have a package waiting for me when I return!!!

Memorial Day Weekend

Just back from the Wooster, Ohio fiber show. I had a great time. Got a few good buys. My friend, Constance, did a whole lot better than me.

Dyed wool for the first time. Spinning for the first time. What a great thing to learn how to do. AND While I was gone the husband scored a bag of free wool....don't spin, but I will find something to do with it.

Almost done with my bag for the HSKS5.

I am waiting for the pattern for the Dueling club, my yarn and needles are ready to knit up some socks super fast. I am going to have to get the cardboard box ready to ship to my enemy so that I can get them out. She has yet to send me her address.....or her shoe size.

Saturday is finally here

While I was working my 2nd repeat of my Mystery Sock 5, I got the news that I am in Gryffindor House. I look forward to the exchange and the events leading up to it.

It looks like another wet day in Ohio. My husband has a nice long list of things to do on this wet day. Looks like we will spend a lot of time in the car. I plan on putting him in the driver seat so I can finish my first sock (wishful thinking).

The poor dog ends up at home alone again. But if she is lucky she will get to the dog park tomorrow.

We went out late last night and watched Queen II. Slow moving movie, but worth watching. We watched with good company and a nice bottle of cheap wine, which made it worth all the slow points in the movie.

Working on my Mystery Sock #5 Diamond pattern socks. So I put the Bonsai down until I can get farther on my socks.

Getting excited for HSKS 5 - I hope that I can make the sign up. Last year, I was too late.

Let’s see - finished my gathered pullover, and my hourglass. I just started my bonsai tunic. I have 2/3 of the back done. Hope to start the front by Saturday. I want to wear this before the weather is excessively hot for a wool tunic.

I have been so busy with my office fundraiser and work in general that I have little to no time to knit.

I have a mystery sock class on the 29th of April. This is my first class at Temptations (LYS in Dublin). I have the perfect summer greens yarn to make my mystery sock out of and I am hoping for a short sock to wear with my red shoes.

The weather has taken a turn for the better finally and we have been spending most nights on the deck with a glass of wine, fire, and just enjoying the nature. I must start training for my miles and miles of bike rides this year. The hardest part of training is the first ride…maybe this weekend.

We just finished installing new hardwood in our first floor. The house was a mess for 2 weeks and I am so happy to have it back in order. The floors look great; my husband did a great job. His next project is the so-called wine room. The best part of the floor project was when he took our front door off and it did not dry for 4 weeks (Do not know how this related to the floor). Yes, we did not have a front door for 4 weeks. We have a front door now and it even has a lock on it.

Almost done with my hourglass sweater, got the yarn for my husbands sweater and finished my dog's sweater.

SNB Delaware Ohio Spiced Wine

Several months ago, a friend sent me a spiced red wine bottled in Virginia. I shared it with a few S-N-B’ers and they enjoyed it so much I have been on a mission to recreate it.

Last weekend (January 6th) my husband and I stopped at a vineyard in PA and found a sachet of spices (Wine Country Mulling Spices) to make your own spiced wine. While I altered it slightly, I think I have come up with a close copy of the spiced wine.

So this is the ingredient list/measurements, and directions:

Ingredients:
1 bottle of red or white wine
12 oz of water
1/2 cup of brown sugar

1 Bag or Tied Cheese Cloth of :
Cinnamon Sticks (about 1 stick) .20 oz
Dried Orange Peel .35 oz
Whole All Spice .15 oz
Whole Cloves (about 18) .01 oz
OTHER .15 oz (this was bites and pieces remaining on my wax paper after measuring the above)
NOTE: My package had a floating cork on top, but I doubt that is necessary!

Directions:
Put wine, water, sugar and spice bag in pan or crock pot and let simmer slowly, do not boil, "for at least one hour - the longer the better."

OH MAN! TSA went through my checked baggage and pulled one of my needles out of my Monkey Socks. I am so upset I have not picked them up since vacation.

I decided to cast on my hourglass sweater and read Needled to Death. So far the hourglass is going okay! I can’t wait to put it on. Its so soft!

Spent the week in Melbourne. Despite several visits from family members, I got a good portion of my “hope to do” list done.

I finished reading Eat Pray Love it was a good read. I would recommend it. I enjoyed the beginning more than the end.

I also started Knit One, Kill Too by Maggie Sefton. Hope to finish it on the plan ride home. It is a knitting mystery. So far; a quick read about a murder of a women who start a yarn shop.

I looked up the pattern in the back of the book, but was disappointed to find out that either nobody knit it or that nobody has posted it online. I even checked out the writer’s website. Oh well.

The most exciting thing about the last week is that I have actually started my first socks. I am doing the monkey pattern and have one sock completed and am about 1 inch into the second one. Very exciting.

I got some great knitting candy for Christmas. My mother in law went to Ireland and brought back some great treasures. Including three skeins of great yarn, a book, and an aran bag. The bag has a selection of the stitches used to make aran sweaters.

Don’t know what an aran sweater is…well it is a sweater knitted with a specific set of stitch patterns so that when men get lost at sea, families could still identify bodies. They did this by looking at the family stitch pattern on the sweaters. Cool!

Finished Drunk Divorced and Covered in Cat Hair. It was pretty good. I think I would recommend it to any knitter who is Divorced or married. Pretty good account of how knitting can relax a person. Most of the patterns in the back did not really appeal to me, but the wrist bag is neat.

I have also finished The Great Mysterious. This book I picked up a while ago and didn’t enjoy it so I put it down and just picked it back up this Thursday and could not bear to put it down. Great book. I figured out the ending ½ way through, but still was interested in reading every word.

The husband’s sweater is coming along slowly. I am done with the back and the front right side. I have to get this dual thing done so I can move on to some more exciting knitting projects. I cannot wait to get it done and on him. HOPE HE LIKES IT.

I have also completed my Lucy Bag. It is great. I have yet to use it, but am excited to through some knitting in and go to the coffee shop or work.

My dog got sick the other night and did not get any knitting done. I blame that on me getting so far behind on my knitting. I have some many Christmas gifts left to start and complete and only 2 months left to go…….ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I am awaiting the release of "Look me in the Eyes." And knitting away on my husbands sweater. I hope to complete it soon even though I am only on the back. I want to start my christmas gifts within the next month. Mothers cat beds; Mother-in-laws stole; sisters felted bag; and my dogs sweater. On top of that I have a scarf for myself I would like to complete before the first snow.
I currently have my Mystery stole in one of the spare rooms blocking. I can't wait to get it off the blocking wires and on my back. Oh and I am on Chapter four of Drunk, Divorced & Covered in Cat Hair.
I still have my first pair of socks sitting in a bag awaiting for me to want to pick them up.
I am shoping around for a pattern of a dressy tank top to wear with my new white shirt.
Enough of me for now.
